Client Brief and Requirements

This project was envisioned as a highly customised family home—warm and expressive, yet designed for real daily life. The client wanted a space that feels layered and personal, without being difficult to maintain.

What the Home Needed Most

  • A detail-oriented, fully customised design across rooms and common areas

  • Child-safety features integrated into design decisions

  • Easy-to-clean finishes to support daily upkeep without sacrificing style

  • Home Automation system of lights, curtains, and appliances for ease of lifestyle

Design Approach – Mix-and-Match Indian Contemporary

The approach was to create a home that feels collected and personal, using pattern, texture, and strong accents—while keeping the layout comfortable and functional for family living.

Layering Through Material + Texture

Rather than relying on a single “look,” this home uses a curated blend of finishes to create depth:

  • PU, laminate, veneer, textured veneer

  • PVD coating on SS

  • Teakwood, antique brass

  • Polished white quartz

  • Ikat woven fabric, linen curtains

  • Statement pieces like a Naga wood table

Practical Luxury (Safety + Maintenance)

Luxury here isn’t delicate—it’s considered. The detailing was planned to support:

  • safer edges/choices for kids

  • materials and fabrics that are easier to maintain

  • thoughtful planning so the home stays functional as the family grows

Key Spaces Transformed

Kids’ Room (A themed space done right)

One of the standout moments in the home is the kids’ room—designed with a playful narrative.

Highlight:

  • A sailor-themed bed paired with a customized wallpaper and lighting, creating an immersive room identity that feels both fun and well curated.

Dining Room (A bold focal point)

To create a strong statement within a textured, layered palette:

Highlight:

  • A deep blue crockery cabinet designed to stand out against a textured grey wall—a contrast that adds drama without clutter.

Materials and Finishes Palette

This home is defined by a rich, layered mix:

  • PU, laminate, veneer, textured veneer

  • PVD-coated SS details

  • Teakwood + statement wood pieces (e.g., Naga wood table)

  • Polished white quartz

  • Antique brass accents

  • Ikat woven fabrics + linen curtain fabrics

Cost, Timeline, and Deliverables

  • Budget Category: Luxury

  • Timeline: 7 months

  • Deliverables: Design consultancy for a full-home overhaul (all rooms + living/dining/common areas, balconies; kitchen excluded), including concept development, detailed customisation, and execution support through coordination.

Challenges and How We Solved Them

  • Challenge: A fully customised home with many details can become visually busy
Solution: Mix-and-match approach with controlled anchors—statement pieces + consistent material language

  • Challenge: Integrating child safety without compromising design
Solution: Safety-conscious choices built into furniture detailing, finishes, and planning decisions

  • Challenge: A richly layered home still needed to be easy to clean
Solution: Finish selection and fabric choices that balance texture with practical maintenance

What Made This Home Unique

  • A deeply personal Indian contemporary palette built through patterns and textures

  • Strong, custom statement moments (kids’ theme + dining focal wall)
